Marta Gálvez: strength and passion in contemporary flamenco dance

Experience live flamenco in Barcelona with Marta Gálvez and her powerful, authentic artistic flamenco dance style

A leading flamenco dancer

Flamenco is pure emotion, defined by character, discipline and honesty on stage. Marta Gálvez represents a new generation of flamenco dancers (bailaoras) who combine strong academic training with the intensity and authenticity this art demands.

From an early age, her connection to flamenco dance has been constant. Her career, built with discipline and passion, has established her as a leading figure within the contemporary flamenco scene.

Training and artistic excellence

Born in Córdoba in 1994, Marta Gálvez began dancing at the age of three. What started as an early vocation soon became a demanding and clearly defined professional path.

She trained at the Professional Dance Conservatoire, where she obtained her qualification in Spanish Dance in 2012. This academic foundation provided her with strong technical knowledge and the discipline that continues to shape her artistic development.

She later received a scholarship to further her training at the Andalusian Dance Centre, a leading institution in the performing arts in Andalusia.

During these formative years, Marta explored a range of techniques and styles, enriching her movement language. The fusion of flamenco’s strength with the structural elegance of Spanish dance has become one of the defining features of her style, combining precision, energy and an expressive quality that connects instantly with audiences.

Professional career and recognition

Marta Gálvez’s career has been marked by significant recognition. In 2015, she received the “Outstanding Dancer” award, acknowledging her technical excellence and stage presence. More recently, in 2023, she was awarded First Prize in the Jóvenes Flamencos competition by the Provincial Council of Córdoba, consolidating her position within the contemporary flamenco landscape.

These distinctions reflect not only her interpretative ability but also her commitment to evolving flamenco while respecting its tradition.

Her professional journey has led her to collaborate with leading companies and projects, performing in flamenco festivals and theatres both in Spain and internationally. Each flamenco tablao has contributed to her growth, helping her refine her artistic identity.

Flamenco tablaos and original creations

The flamenco tablao has been a constant school in Marta Gálvez’s career. In these intimate spaces, where connection with the audience is immediate, she has developed a style that is intense, honest and rich in nuance.

Her experience in tablaos has strengthened her ability to improvise and to engage in direct dialogue with flamenco singing (cante) and guitar, essential elements of traditional flamenco.

As a creator, Marta has also developed her own artistic projects, reflecting her maturity as a performer. Her show Dama de Noche is a clear example of this evolution, offering a carefully crafted stage production in which technique and emotion come together to create a complete flamenco experience.
