Eugenio Santiago: flamenco talent from Terrassa to Barcelona
Eugenio Santiago, a flamenco guitarist with a true stage soul performing at Teatro Flamenco Barcelona
Self-taught beginning driven by passion
Eugenio Santiago was born in Terrassa, a Catalan city with a strong cultural identity, and began playing flamenco guitar at the age of eight. He taught himself to play the guitar, inspired by his family environment and a natural attraction to the instrument. Later, his training was refined under the influence of key figures such as his father, flamenco guitar maestro, Luis Reinaldo, who passed on his knowledge about technique, flamenco rhythms (compás) and a love for some of flamenco’s most complex flamenco styles or palos as they are called in Spanish.
From an early age, Eugenio Santiago showed a particular talent for accompanying the cante, flamenco singing, especially in demanding flamenco styles such as bulería and soleá. His intuition and listening skills stood out well beyond his years.
Awards, musical maturity and shared stages
At just 15 he was already taking part in competitions and performances, and soon won first prize at the National Flamenco Guitar Competition of L’Hospitalet. That recognition opened doors and confirmed what many already sensed, Eugenio had more than technique, he had flamenco guitar magic.
Since then, he has performed in renowned tablaos and venues in Madrid, broadening his experience and collaborating with artists such as Juan de Juan, Morenito de Íllora and Karime Amaya. Alongside his work as an accompanying guitarist, one of the most demanding roles in flamenco, Eugenio has begun to develop his own voice as a soloist, exploring new ways of composing without losing the art’s traditional soul.
A cornerstone on the stage of Teatro Flamenco Barcelona
Eugenio is currently part of the cast performing Inspiración at Teatro Flamenco Barcelona, where his stage presence and precise playing have won over both fellow artists and audiences alike. His flamenco guitar style is defined by clean execution, sensitivity in silence and an absolute command of flamenco rhythms, a fundamental element of this art form. His playing is never showing off, Eugenio understands the guitar as a channel for emotion, a way of letting the soul speak without words.
An invitation to experience his art live
Watching Eugenio Santiago on stage is not just about listening to music, it is about witnessing a living moment of contemporary flamenco. A young artist who embodies respect for tradition while carrying the drive of new generations who have grown up loving this art from within.
