From Barcelona to Jerez: Andrea Tomás’ journey of learning and emotion

Andrea Tomás was born and trained in Barcelona, but soon felt that flamenco needed to be lived in Jerez, the cradle of cante jondo. She moved there to train directly in the city’s tablaos and academies. She later continued her artistic development in Seville, embracing the strength of dance and consolidating a personal style. Since then, she has formed part of the cast of Teatro Flamenco Sevilla, where her performances have gained recognition for their freshness and commitment.

Andrea Tomás: a distinguished career and international projection

Andrea received her first major boost as a young flamenco dancer when she was selected by choreographer, María José Franco, to take part in the Jerez Bailaora Gala held during the Fiesta de la Bulería. There, she showed off her flamenco dancing talent alongside other emerging flamenco artists, standing out particularly in the more intense flamenco styles, or palos, such as seguiriyas and tarantos. She later became part of Compañía B, a training project for young flamenco talents, and toured the Middle East with the charismatic flamenco guitarist, Antonio Andrade.
